It's real — GlassOut is out the door and in your hands. 🎉

Before you rush off to download it, one thing up front: this is a beta release. Not a "we put beta on the box for fun" beta — an actual, still-has- sharp-edges, please-tell-us-what-breaks beta.

What GlassOut does

If you're new here: GlassOut captures instrument panels straight out of Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020 and 2024) and streams them in real time to whatever device you want — phone, tablet, another monitor, a physical cockpit build. No manual pop-outs, no OBS hacks, no chroma-keying the sky out of a window.

You set up a profile for your aircraft, define the panels and crops you care about, arrange them across your displays once, and hit Run. Everything pops into place where you left it. 🛫

Why beta matters

Flight sim setups are gloriously weird. Everyone has a different mix of hardware, aircraft, addons, tablets, and network quirks. There's no way a solo dev (hi 👋) tests every combination before shipping.

A few things to keep in mind while you're kicking the tires:

  • Expect rough edges. Some aircraft will capture perfectly on the first try. Others will need a bit of love in the panel identification step.
  • Things may change. Profile formats, the discovery protocol, and parts of the developer API are still stabilising. I'll try hard not to break your saved setups, but no promises across every update during beta.
  • Feedback is the whole point. If something crashes, feels weird, or just doesn't do what you expected — please tell me. That's how this gets better.

How to get involved

  • Grab the demo from the main page. Every feature works; there's just a "DEMO" watermark on the streams until licensing opens up.
  • Read the docs for setup, profiles, and the developer API.
  • Report bugs and ideas — the contact form on the site is the quickest way to reach me.

That's it for the first post. If you're flying with GlassOut already, thank you — genuinely. If you're about to try it, buckle in. 🧡
